I will acknowledge the arguments but I have this in response: How are you supposed to argue with a fool, anyway? And looking over some of the comments, I wonder if there might be some pyschological suppression of memories from the day of the Grand Race going on. You can't discount that. After all, the very reason that one would insist so adamantly over a particular ideal to the point of insanity is because they don't want to come to grips with the reality of a trauma. It would be easier to live with an altered perception than the actual facts.
But I do have no counterargument over the thing where Giselle wanted to leave the Silvius because she felt abandoned by Fam. But then, my full impressions don't come until I have finished a series, so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't amount to much, especially since the greater plot elements of the wars and politics of the various nations easily dwarfs the mundane interactions of any interpersonal behavior. And all that being said in the article and in this retort, I still like the series. Actually, it might be interesting if circumstances finally do shatter Fam's facade to the point that she just goes berserk or something, even though that is a long shot even by my own admission.
