And my name speaks what EVERYONE
should do.
Hear is what you can do:
1. Search out information. There are numerous new fonts of knowledge that can supply us with reports and facts missing from the everyday news. The alternative media is in full bloom, and international news sources supply a wider variety of perspectives.
2. Discuss the issues of the day with your friends and colleagues. Don't let the issues die. Already people speak of 9/11--all the facts of which have not yet been revealed--in the way they speak of the JFK assassination. "We'll never know," they say with a shrug. Well, the reason we don't know what happened with JFK's death is because the people let the issue fade. They did not demand the truth. And many are not demanding more inquiries on recent occurrences, be it September 11 or the torture at U.S.-run prisons abroad. Demand that the truth be told.
3. Speak out--to congresspeople, in op-eds, in letters to companies. For an idea of how to organize, check out the Christian Right/social conservative site Focus on the Family (
www.family.org). Follow this group's lead, but you can call, fax, and write the same congresspeople and organizations and say just the opposite if you wish.
4. Join groups--or start your own
5. Applaud the groups and actions you like, and loudly protest those you don't; make noise.
6. Turn out for public hearings on local matters
7. Run for office.
Don't ignore the issues that go on everyday. It affects you, and everybody else around you.
